Chakra Information

Q: What are chakras?

A: Chakras are energy centres within the body. The Sanskrit word chakra means 'Wheel'. These 'wheels of energy' are important areas within the energy system of the body, if these wheels are not 'spinning' correctly, are closed or have negative emotions attached to them we can be left feeling amongst other things, low in energy, out of balance, negative, blocked creatively, emotional, detached.

Each 'wheel' can be associated with amongst other things the following:

Colours
Sounds
Vibrations
Yoga positions
Crystals
Emotions
Organs
Meridians
Muscle groups
Foods
Breathing exercise

The chart below illustrates some of these aspects, please note this is only a demonstration of some of the aspects NOT all. I have included the Thymus chakra although many schools of thought say there are traditionally 7 main energy centres; I feel the thymus chakra is equally as important as it helps to monitor the immune and lymphatic systems.

Q: How can I check my chakras are working correctly?

A:

1. Either see a professional i.e. crystal healer, Reiki practitioner etc; otherwise you can check your chakras yourself very easily with a pendulum. Ask the pendulum for ?'es' & 'no' (each should swing in a different direction for the answer that is right for you i.e. for me the pendulum swings in a clockwise direction and anticlockwise for no, maybe swings sideways ( these may be different for you so do not worry if it does not swing this way!) and hold the pendulum approximately 3-4 inches above each chakra.

2. Wait for the pendulum to move, if there is no movement this can indicate that the chakra is not open fully (see chakra balance for how to rectify )

3. Each chakra should move in alternate ways i.e. if the base swings clockwise the solar should spin anticlockwise ? if this does not happen do not worry it just means that there maybe some clearing to do (see chakra balance for how to rectify )

4. Check all chakras including the rear of the body for the base, heart and throat chakras (use a mirror to do the back if you are on your own)

5. Complete chakra balance (see chakra balance ) to remove any stagnant energy, re-energise and reactivate chakras.

6. Visualise each chakra spinning with lots of bright light and energy.

7. Surround yourself at the end with brilliant white light or an appropriate colour for you asking for protection from negative energy.
